I have been the secretary general since April 2020 (Reiwa 2nd year).
It's been a little less than two years since I came to Future Design Shibuya. Immediately after taking office, the spread of the new coronavirus caused the first state of emergency to be declared, and the world changed completely.
Since then, "online study", "virtual Shibuya", "crowdfunding", "Halloween festival", etc., what you can do with Corona, what you should do, everyone involved in Future Design Shibuya, related partner companies In a sense, I feel like I've been running desperately with you.
Looking at Shibuya from an administrative standpoint from a new perspective
I have been in various departments in Shibuya Ward for 38 years from an administrative standpoint, but in Shibuya Ward, I am working on so-called inhabitants, mainly for residents living in the area of Shibuya Ward. In addition, there were many social issues caused by the regional characteristics of Shibuya, and there used to be a situation where efforts to address them were not always advanced.
For example, in the town development around Shibuya Station, the progress of redevelopment of the surrounding area including the station building has been delayed even among the main stations on the Yamanote Line, and the danger in the event of an earthquake and the decline in the attractiveness of the city have been long. It was pointed out. Also, even though no event was held, during Halloween and the year-end countdown, many unscrupulous crowds gathered around the scrambled intersection, and it was dangerous to make a mistake. There were many street sleepers in the city, and the park was a difficult space full of prohibited signs.
For the past 10 years, I have been involved in tackling these issues from the government side. Somehow we were able to see some progress, redevelopment around Shibuya Station has a certain prospect, and new forms of public spaces such as area management, Miyashita Park, Kitaya Park have been realized, but further efforts should be made. I have always felt that there are issues that cannot be addressed by the government alone. Under such circumstances, I will be involved in Future Design Shibuya, and I will further advance the efforts of Shibuya Ward so far from the new position of Future Design Shibuya with the help of various stakeholders of local industry, government, academia and private sector. I strongly feel that this is my role.
Challenges of Future Design Shibuya in the middle of the road
However, what I feel again is that there are still issues with Future Design Shibuya, which is now in its fourth year.
Speaking of the Mayor of Hasebe Ward, a truly diverse group of members, including Mr. Osada, Mr. Kanayama, Mr. Kubota, and Mr. Goto, who have been active in various fields and have accumulated achievements so far, which can be said to be a monster class, participated. Future Design Shibuya is still inadequate in terms of financial resources and human resources to pave the way for local social issues in Shibuya Ward and lead to solutions, and cooperation and cooperation with Shibuya Ward, just in the middle of the road. I feel there is.
Thanks to you, the number of partner member companies has exceeded 100, but we need to seek out what Future Design Shibuya should be for member companies.
There is no organization similar to Future Design Shibuya, which is a general incorporated association, in about 1,700 basic municipalities nationwide. We hope that this will show the significance of our existence by becoming an unprecedented and sustainable organization.
Issues to be tackled with Shibuya Ward, issues to be tackled with related partner member companies, securing resources such as financial resources and human resources for that, and keeping an eye on the balance of balance for each project, the balance of the entire Future Design Shibuya is also sustainable. We recognize that we need to make things, and at the same time we need to work on profitable businesses that we have not yet worked on, increase the number of member companies, and at the same time expand the possibility of new collaboration with Shibuya Ward and partner companies. increase.
