At the 18th Shibuya Music Festival 2023 held at the special stage in front of Shibuya 109 on Sunday, October 22, 2023, Japan's leading breakers SHIGEKIX (Shigeyuki Hani) and AYUMI (Ayumi Fukushima) from the United States and France We held a Cipher (*1) event inviting the best breaking national team candidates.
At this event, four guest athletes and approximately 40 dancers ranging from elementary school students to adults participated freely and performed at a high level. Members of Value Infinities and REG☆STYLE also participated in guest shows, providing a place to enjoy breaking and music in the heart of Shibuya, accompanied by the breakbeats of the live band Super Break Orchestra.
After the event, the participants used work gloves and tongs to clean up the area around the special plaza in front of 109, and at the same time cooperated in an awareness campaign to improve manners in street culture. On the morning of the event, we will hold a workshop for kids and juniors led by four guest instructors at Value Studio, where breakers (dancers) who have the potential to lead the future from all over the country will gather to participate in the world's best dancers. The students worked to improve their competitiveness while experiencing the performance of the participants.
15,000 people gathered at the Shibuya Music Festival, and approximately 700 people attended the SHIBUYA PLAYGROUND to enjoy the collaboration between sports and culture. Workshops and events attracted participants from all over the country, and the creation of tourism through music and sports was achieved.
*1 A style in which participants form a circle and take turns dancing in the center.
