A street sports project in which young people, including Shibuya Ward, can actively participate for the purpose of promoting street sports and enlightening the improvement of manners for about two months from September 5 (Sun) to November 23 (Tue), 2021. As part of "Next Generations", we have set up a space on the rooftop of MIYASHITA PARK Shibuya Station in Shibuya Ward for the purpose of dancing with a mirror and using Double Dutch.
About 2,000 people, from beginners to players of the professional dance league "D League" from Japan, used the space of about 5m square. In addition, the age group used was wide, and there were also elderly social dancers from players who are expected to play an active role in the next generation, such as kids dancers and kids double Dutchers.
At the dance space, "NEXT GENERATIONS CHALLENGE", a pre-event for "NEXT GENERATIONS GAMES (hereinafter GAMES)" held on November 23, was held on November 14. For kids contestants who want to win in GAMES and want to practice to enter the battle, we held a workshop assuming the actual performance and ended with a full thank you. As a result of this project, the number of kids' users has tripled since that day.
The following comments were received from well-known dancers and double Dutchers.
Dancer RANA
"While playing, I practiced a little and had a session, and I thought it would be interesting to have a space where dancers and non-dancers can naturally gather."
Double Dutcher REGSTYLE KAI
Whether you are a street sports player or a shopper, I want it to be a place where you can cross-culture without any distinction. I think that it has become such a space where you can touch various things and play, practice and learn.
The background of this project is that despite the increasing number of players such as dance and double Dutch, the chances of seeing them in the city are decreasing, so that the excitement of street sports will not be extinguished. In addition, it was a demonstration experiment conducted as a method for coexisting with the city and public spaces.
Although the space at Miyashita Park has ended, we will continue to increase the number of places to "play, watch, and connect" sports in the city of Shibuya, create diversity unique to Shibuya, and promote projects that contribute to the development of street culture. intend to do something.
