Press release
"NEXT GENERATIONS" will be held on November 9-10 Kendama Competition and Skateboard & Freestyle Basketball Workshop

Street sports experience for the next generation

Future Design Shibuya, a general incorporated association, aims to promote street sports and raise awareness of manners, and is planning a street sports project `` NEXT GENERATIONS'' in which young people including Shibuya residents can actively participate, together with companies and organizations related to Shibuya 2018. Launched in the year. In September of this year, a competition for skateboarding, breakin, and double Dutch was held, and "NEXT GENERATIONS", which attracted about 5,000 spectators, was held for two days from Saturday, November 9th to Sunday, November 10th. At the "Tokyo Snow Festival SNOWBANK PAY IT FORWARD x HEROs FESTA 2019" held in Yoyogi Park, we will hold a Kentama competition, a skateboarding and freestyle basketball workshop.

Kendama, which has been popular in Japan for a long time, has been updated to freestyle in recent years and reimported. Not only are there many enthusiasts across generations, but the world competition is being held where players show off their splendid tricks and compete for their skills. In this "NEXT GENERATIONS", a Kendama competition for U-15 (junior high school students and younger) will be held. The winner will be awarded the right to participate in the final tournament of the world championship "Catch & Flow" to be held in Tokyo in December. We are accepting entries for the Kendama Competition, which anyone from elementary school to junior high school can participate in.

In the hands-on workshop, you can challenge not only kendama but also skateboarding and freestyle basketball (11/10 only).

Skateboarding, which became an official event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, is a sport in which the activities of Japanese athletes are remarkably attracting attention. On the other hand, there are still many voices saying that they do not know where to learn and that there is no place to play in the neighborhood. "NEXT GENERATIONS" offers a flat space, a challenge section that even beginners can play, and free gear rental, and staff will support the skateboarding experience according to the level of the participants.

Freestyle basketball, with no goals or rules, is, as the name implies, a sport where you can freely use basketball to perform tricks. We will hold a workshop where you can enjoy freestyle basketball, which is popular in various styles such as battle formats such as 1 on 1 and showcases. Top athletes who are active in the world will also appear, showing off their splendid techniques in the showcase and introducing the fun of playing anywhere with a single ball.
