The future of Shibuya: Embracing difference and stimulating playfulness
Shibuya is a city where disparate elements collide, struggle, and combine to give birth to new fashion, music, and art. Expectations are growing for the city as a whole as a "device for generating culture."
In this session, triggered by the publication of the Kyodo News serial "Half a Century of Shibuya," we will look back on the history of Shibuya, which has accepted "young people," "outsiders," and "outcasts" and built a unique culture.
Furthermore, artists, educators, producers, and media professionals will have a lively discussion about what kind of learning environment is necessary for children and diverse people who will create the future and take flight out into the world, and why they need the "power to make life interesting," a topic that has been discussed extensively at SIW 2022-2024.
