Future Design Shibuya will hold the social innovation festival "SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK 2023" from November 6th (Monday) to 12th (Sunday).
This year, with the tagline "YOU MAKE", Shibuya Ward, partner companies, students, and all other participants will become "creators", gathering and exchanging ideas and values from diverse and multifaceted perspectives. We are looking for a place to take shape. Centering on diversity, the program is organized around five keywords: Shibuya, culture, globalization, sustainability, and women. With Hikarie Hall as the main venue, we will create opportunities to touch new ideas such as talk events, workshops, experience events, exhibitions, networking, etc. in a hybrid of offline and online for a week.
The opening will begin with a session on how Shibuya's future should be built, with Mayor Ken Hasebe of Shibuya and Kimiko Date, a tennis player, on the theme of "building a town where the next generation can play an active role." In addition, various workshops will be held this year, such as workshops led by university students and workshops to think about diversity. By holding it in an open space, even those who are not participating can feel the heat of the place.
Please look forward to new projects that will create a better society from SIW.

Next Generations ~Town development where the next generation plays an active role~
Shibuya is attracting attention from all over the world as an iconic part of Tokyo. Here in Shibuya, a unique youth culture and trend was born and spread throughout Japan and even the world. In the background, there is inexhaustible energy and unique ideas of young people. In recent years, while many areas are seeking the power of the younger generation for revitalization and development, it can be said that Shibuya's potential is immeasurable.
At the beginning of the SIW2023 conference, we decided to set up a place to discuss how to build the future of Shibuya under the theme of "town development where the next generation can play an active role." In particular, the focus will be on how to create an environment in which young people can freely express their ideas and realize them.
Shibuya Mayor Hasebe, who was born and raised in Shibuya, members who are working hard for the next generation, and young members will discuss and think of actions together in order to realize the vision of "Shibuya City, a city that transforms differences into power." I will continue.
The future of Shibuya is in the hands of the people who gather here. I hope that ideas and passion will become the driving force for building a new Shibuya. I hope that this discussion will be the first step in that direction.

What images come to mind when you hear the words “diversity” and “D&I”?
Know the difference in someone other than yourself. Accept someone's personality. In this way, many people may have the image that "diversity" and "inclusion" mean thinking about someone other than themselves.
Why don't you take some time to think about yourself in your busy everyday life?
In order for all people to be respected, to live as they are, and to accept the differences and individuality of others, why don't you start by facing yourself, knowing yourself, and loving yourself? ? Deepen your self-understanding from the three perspectives of "mental", "individual "differences"" and "art", and find hints that will lead to further promotion of DE&I!

Diversity for everyone to live their own lives. On the other hand, each of us lives in a group surrounded by others.
In order for each person with different characteristics to live comfortably in a group, what kind of consideration should be given to whom, and to what extent? Should all stations have elevators for people with walking difficulties? What about genderless toilets? Should the ratio of women in managerial positions be determined?・・・
Are the considerations currently under discussion really appropriate from the perspective of diversity? Is it reasonable? There is a concept called "reasonable accommodation" that considers
Towards future Diversity, what kind of consideration should be given to whom, and to what extent?
From SIW, let's create the seeds of the idea of "thin rational consideration", how to deal with new diversity!

Parents and children experience using words, art, and body!! ~Let's know the difference between people~
Click here to apply for participation (paid) https://siw2023workshopfamily.peatix.com/
Adults, children, parents and children respect each other and live in their own way. Release stereotypes with your child! As you grow into an adult, have you changed your stereotypes, such as "Is this enough?"
Have you ever thought that if you had experienced a variety of “differences” in your childhood, you might have become a different person than you are now? Would you like to take this opportunity to experience various differences with your parent and child?
Through this experience, it may be an opportunity to learn about the difference in values between adults and children. Finally, through this time, parents and children will be able to communicate with each other what is important to them, although they are usually too embarrassed to say it. The starting line to respect each other is that both adults and children enjoy it with all their might ♡
