We will hold the "Shibuya COP Academy" in order to accelerate environmental commitment through dialogue between young people who gather in Shibuya and companies.
Future Design Shibuya and COP26 Japan Youth Representative, was invited as the main lecturer to talk about young people with high environmental awareness and businesses related to Shibuya. We will network people, governments and individuals and consider actions to make Shibuya sustainable. The goal is to implement the ideas created here in society, and it will start on May 16th. We have started recruiting groups to participate, so please apply.
In addition, the “Shibuya COP Academy 2023 Kickoff Meeting” will be held prior to the event. There will also be an overview of the 2023 Academy and a talk session on young people's environmental awareness, so please join us.
Background and purpose
In 2015, the world agreed on the Paris Agreement, and 831 local governments in Japan also declared a zero-carbon city (*1) and set a goal of achieving carbon neutrality (*2) by 2050. Shibuya City formulated a basic environmental plan in 2018 and is working to spread awareness of environmental measures for residents.
At Future Design Shibuya, in collaboration with Shibuya Ward's environmental policy, we aim to build a decarbonization promotion model in Shibuya Ward, which is one of the world's leading commercial centers, and to implement new environmental measures in society through industry-government-academia-civil collaboration.
*1 Zero Carbon City Declaration: A statement of policy aimed at making the region carbon neutral by 2050, led by the Ministry of the Environment.
*2 Carbon neutral: Eliminating the actual emissions of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide.
