Until the birth of New Balance YOYOGI PARK FKT
In May 2021, when the big marathon event was canceled or postponed, and the virtual running event was over, let's start by creating a new small race that combines real and virtual, Futako, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. Created a 1-mile course at Tamagawa Ryokuchi Athletic Field and held "TAMAGAWA FKT" (sponsored by New Balance Japan Co., Ltd., Setagaya Sports Promotion Foundation). A total of more than 900 runners came to the course that appeared on the riverbed of the Tama River at their desired time in a month, participated in the race, and competed for the record.
In the SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK SHIBUYA 2021 held in November 2021, New Balance held a one-day event called "NB TEST RUN SHIBUYA" at Yoyogi Park under the theme of "running the city in the future" (sponsored by Co., Ltd.) New Balance Japan, Yoyogi Park, Future Design Shibuya). As lifestyles have changed and the circumstances surrounding running have changed significantly, we have created a day to think about the relationship between runners and towns and parks. In May, we held a test of "FKT" in the Tama River in Yoyogi Park, and held a MEET UP event to think about the relationship between the city and the park and runners with various companies and media. While holding the 1-day FKT, a total of 485 runners enjoyed running on the course of Yoyogi Park, and plogging while picking up trash in the city of Shibuya, looking for opportunities to create a new running culture.
Then, for one month from April 21st (Thursday) to May 20th (Friday), 2022, a 1-mile course will be set up again in Yoyogi Park and the "New Balance YOYOGI PARK FKT" will be held. It is a micro race where you can feel the excitement of standing on the starting line while having the ease of participating at any time. If you are a runner who wants to run a mile leisurely with a friend, set a goal and challenge many times, or aim for a higher ranking, please try to challenge the park at a time when there are few people. Let's make running in our lives more enjoyable in each way.
