Shibuya Startup Consortium "Shibuya Startup Deck" launched

Promote the development of the startup ecosystem with the aim of becoming a "city that realizes each affluence"

Shibuya Ward established the organization "Shibuya Consortium-Shibuya Startup Deck-" (hereinafter referred to as "this organization") to further develop the startup ecosystem in Shibuya Ward through industry-government-academia collaboration. We held a recital.
This organization reconsiders the concept of the word "startup" into the concept of "challenge without being bound by existing ideas", and creates a "city where each affluence is realized" by new technologies and services created from that concept. Our vision is to form. To that end, this organization will promote efforts in line with each of the four main implementation items: community building with mutual assistance, startup-friendly environment development, social implementation support for new services and technologies, and globalization. ..
The organizational structure for promotion is Shibuya-like, which has the characteristics of diversity and tolerance, and introduces the idea of a holographic organization, aiming to be a non-top-down organization that has traditionally been used.

Mr. Kan Suzuki, a former university professor of industry bureaucracy who has produced a large number of human resources in the business world and administrative organizations, will be appointed as the chairman of this organization, and the public and private sectors will be involved in developing human resources and companies that will lead the next industry in Shibuya. We will work in collaboration with the university.

In addition, the Japanese translation of the organization name "Deck" means skateboard, platform, and presentation. Skateboarding is a sport that anyone can easily start. Also, the appearance of taking on challenges no matter how many times you fall is similar to that of a start-up company. We created a platform in collaboration with each member of this organization, and named it "Shibuya Startup Deck" with the hope that startup companies from Shibuya will fly to the world.

By promoting the efforts of this organization, we will create an environment where everyone can easily try new things, promote the further development of the startup ecosystem in Shibuya Ward, and "each affluence" with new technologies and services born from Shibuya. We will continue to form a "city where the realization of the world".

At the establishment presentation held in Shibuya Ward, Mr. Ken Hasebe, the vice chairman of the Society, and Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki, the chairman of the University of Tokyo and Keio University, gave a greeting and the meeting. I explained the purpose of the establishment.
Ken Hasebe, Mayor of Shibuya,
"Finally, we have reached the stage where the startup consortium has materialized and started to move in this Shibuya. This consortium has been named" Shibuya Startup Deck "." Deck "is a word associated with skateboarding like Shibuya. There is, and I hope that it will be called "Shibuya" with familiarity as it permeates the world. Startups born from this consortium will be more and more active, and first of all, to solve problems in the world of corona skateboarding. I hope that the government will work together to create a new city while initiating new innovations
. "

Mr. Kan Suzuki talked about the background of the establishment and the concept of "Shibuya Startup University" and called for "Let's liven up the startup with the power of all Shibuya".

In addition, Shibuya Ward has started a project "Innovation for New Normal from Shibuya" on June 25, this year, which aims to widely solicit new ideas for the New Normal era and realize them.
This is to solicit new technologies and ideas to solve social issues in various fields from not only start-up companies but also universities and research institutes, and the adopted projects are coordinated with the department / person in charge of the ward and swiftly. This is a social demonstration project. Currently, we are receiving applications from about 100 companies (of which about 10 are overseas companies), organizations, universities, and research institutes, and we are making it possible at any time.

In addition, Future Design Shibuya, a general incorporated association, will also participate in this association and support the startup of Shibuya Ward as the secretariat.
