A place that is neither a school nor a home, fostering curiosity and creativity

The Mirai Library is a place where children can feel safe, neither at school nor at home, with the aim of nurturing curiosity and creativity. Every Tuesday to Thursday, in addition to after-school homework support, creative programs that utilize various digital tools, social education, experiments, and experiential learning programs from the perspective of the SDGs are being held.
It is a community support project that aims to bring together children from various backgrounds and raise their interest in the future, their empathy, and their ability to survive.

Implementation of hands-on programs for children by partner companies
We are always looking for program partners

Partner companies that support the initiative are running programs for children, such as digital creative experiences using tablet devices, town heritage site searches led by local groups, collaboration programs with Next Generations, and corporate sponsorship programs.
We are also always looking for partner companies and organizations to carry out our programs.

What is a “third place for children”?
The Nippon Foundation plays a central role in 2016, with the aim of nurturing the ability to survive in an environment where children can spend time with peace of mind, such as self-affirmation, the ability to relate to people and society, lifestyle habits, and study habits, in order to become independent in the future. It has been open all over the country since last year.
At the same time, in cooperation with schools, local communities, and specialized institutions, we will play a role as a hub for a “regional child-rearing community where no one is left behind.” Currently, there are 152 locations nationwide, and we aim to open 500 locations nationwide by fiscal 2025. (as of March 2023)
