Celebrating Hachiko's 100th anniversary, we will focus on content that evokes feelings for Hachiko in Shibuya.

The Shibuya Art Festival Executive Committee will be holding the 15th Shibuya Art Festival 2023~ for 7 days from November 6th (Monday) to November 12th (Sunday), 2023, with the theme of ``Exploring the relationship between the city and art.'' We have decided to hold "SHIBUYA ART SCRAMBLE".

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of "Hachiko," which is loved not only in Japan but all over the world and has become Shibuya's biggest tourist attraction. “Hachiko” is an irreplaceable presence in Shibuya that has connected all kinds of people, bonds, and the town. Reminiscing about "Hachiko", we will express the charm of "Shibuya" and "Hachiko" through art and develop content that will lead to the future.

The first announcement will be the "SHIBUYA PHOTO ARCHIVE EXHIBITION" scheduled to be held at the Seibu Shibuya store. Shibuya is a city that is undergoing redevelopment once every 100 years, and is constantly changing. As we continue to change toward the future, we will exhibit precious photographs from the past to the present that capture every precious moment. Furthermore, we have devised a QR code that allows you to see the current state of the photo, making it an exhibition where you can enjoy a time slip as if you were experiencing Hachiko, who has been watching over the city of Shibuya for many years.
In preparation for the second announcement, details of the content during the event period will be announced at a later date.

SHIBUYA PHOTO ARCHIVE EXHIBITION Shibuya Archive Photo Exhibition

An exhibition of old photos of Shibuya taken from the 1960s to the 1990s, focusing on Shibuya Koen-dori and Dogenzaka. At the venue, you can use the QR code attached to the photo to compare it with the current scenery of Shibuya from the same place where the photo was taken, making it a photo exhibition that will give you a greater sense of history.

15th Shibuya Art Festival 2023 ~ SHIBUYA ART SCRAMBLE ~ Key Visual

Shibuya City Tourism Association The work "Love and Loyalty." by Kohei Fukushima, who is active as a tourism fellow and uses his multi-talented abilities, will be featured on the website and in poster design as the key visual for the 15th Shibuya Art Festival 2023 ~SHIBUYA ART SCRAMBLE~ The work will be displayed as an art work in the streets around Shibuya Station.

Message from Kohei Fukushima
There are many different images of Hachiko, the symbol of Shibuya, but I felt the warmth of a complicated love in the fact that Hachiko, which was supposed to be waiting for the doctor's return, now exists as a meeting place.
Just as the love of these two people has brought together many people, Shibuya is a place where culture and people come together to create a shape. Shibuya will become even more attractive if you learn about its side and different perspectives.

What is Shibuya Art Festival?
The ``Shibuya Art Festival'' started when it was decided that Taro Okamoto's work ``The Myth of Tomorrow'' would be permanently installed at Shibuya Station. Because it will be held in Shibuya, one of Japan's leading media cities, we will treat the entire city as a gallery, opening up every space to those who take on challenges, and exploring the ``relationship between the city and art.''
An international cultural tourism city that creates opportunities for diverse people to touch, think about, and experience art for about a week every fall, connecting cities, people, people, the past and the present, and the present and the future through art.・This is the Shibuya Art Festival, a cultural project that Shibuya is working on.
