Outline of art project “SHIBUYA IN PROGRESS”
The first cultural project of Shibuya Startup Deck was Embedded Blue, a creative company that connects art and business. This time, a construction site in Shibuya will be the stage for the exhibition of works, and 11 new works created by three up-and-coming artists (KAZUSA MATSUYAMA, Ryosuke Misawa, and Mino Watabe) who are attracting attention around the world will be exhibited. The original artwork drawn by the artist is available for purchase. Applications can be made by lottery entry from a special site that can be accessed from the QR code installed around the work. Comment from Sho Kataoka, Representative Director of Embedded Blue
I am grateful to have this opportunity for a small startup that has just started. Our company advocates “continuing to create cultural richness with sustainability”. At the same time as announcing ideas and plans, we will develop infrastructure and funding mechanisms for sustainable activities, and implement a new flow of money for art and cultural art activities in society. Please pay attention to us, Embedded Blue, and the up-and-coming artists representing the era participating in this project.
Comment from Ms. Akiko Miyamoto, Manager of Shibuya Ward Industry, Tourism and Culture Department
This initiative is a project born from the "Shibuya Startup Deck" established in November 2020 with the aim of strengthening the startup ecosystem in Shibuya Ward through public-private partnerships. About a year and a half ago, a member of Shibuya Startup Deck proposed a project idea. After that, the project was successfully launched with the help of various people involved.
This time, "Embedded Blue" to collaborate with was selected from among 19 companies that applied. The area in front of Shibuya station is still under development. There may be some people who feel sad or hopeful about the ever-changing scenery of Shibuya. This time, the artist drew such Shibuya under the theme of SHIBUYA IN PROGRESS. I think that it will color the city with such a work that makes you feel Shibuya in the future.
We will continue to create a field where startups can easily promote their business, and aim to make the city more prosperous by implementing new ideas and services of startups in the city.
