An open study session was held to share the latest urban data examples and promote collaboration between members of Future Design Shibuya General Incorporated Association and Shibuya Smart City Promotion Organization General Incorporated Association.
The "Urban Data Study Group" is organized by the Future Design Shibuya Association and is scheduled to be held three times a year as a hybrid of online and offline. In 2024, the three concepts that are major issues in Shibuya will be set: "Environment," "Safety and Security," and "Transportation."

Environmental Data/SSCA Project Initiatives
Mr. Kono from Daikin Industries' Technology Innovation Center spoke about the Cool Down Project's past and future efforts, which aims to visualize the "health of the city" by utilizing city data obtained through the data infrastructure of "air conditioning" and to create a safe, secure and sustainable "Shibuya." He also confirmed the positive cycle that will be created by cooling the air in Shibuya as the ideal of the project.
Associate Professor Suzuki from Osaka University spoke about the university's ZEB initiatives, visualization of indoor airflow, and comparison of people flow and air conditioning load, among other collaborative examples.
Corporate example: Tokyu Real Estate's environmental business
Mr. Matsumoto from Tokyu Land Corporation spoke about their efforts to tackle environmental issues such as a carbon-free society, a recycling-oriented society, and biodiversity, including the use of renewable energy in facilities, extending the lifespan of buildings, greening facilities, and rooftop vegetable gardens, in the direction of "WE ARE GREEN." He spoke from the perspective of connecting environmental value to economic value, saying that a cycle of expanding business opportunities based on the environment can lead to a sustainable society.

Theme: "Utilization of urban data in environmental issues in Shibuya and the challenges it poses"
The four speakers and Future Design Shibuya Representative Director Koizumi held a cross-talk on the theme of "Utilization and Issues of Urban Data in Shibuya's Environmental Issues." The current situation and issues regarding the collection and utilization of environmental data in Shibuya were clarified, and an in-depth discussion was held on the ideal environmental vision for the future.
●Environmental design of the Shibuya area
Environmental design for the city of Shibuya will become increasingly important in the future, and the foundation for this is being laid. It is necessary to create an "environmental vision" that will guide future designs based on this foundation. Environmental design is also meaningful in that it will lead to improved appeal for the city.
● Utilizing data
Currently, data is not being used effectively, so in the future, it is possible to use data for purposes other than energy management. By using data effectively, the Shibuya project can be made more advanced and spread to the world.
The relationship between open data and innovation
By making a business out of selling data, other innovations may not occur. I think cooperation between developers is important in urban development.
Furthermore, collecting data has become the goal, and it is important to use data as a tool.

We believe that academia has an important role to play in understanding the current situation in each field and researching possibilities.
