Keynote speech: "Global Warming and the Future of Sports"
As global warming progresses, the sports world is being called upon to take steps to ensure a sustainable future. The Paris Olympics introduced an environmentally friendly approach by utilizing existing facilities rather than constructing new buildings in the city, making it an example of sustainable sporting event management. Such efforts are an important model for reducing the environmental impact of sporting events and aiming to protect and coexist with urban and natural environments.
In this session, we will welcome International Gymnastics Federation President Morinari Watanabe and Japan DanceSport Federation Director and Paris Olympic Breaking Director Watanabe Marlock to discuss the future of the sports world in the face of global warming and concrete measures to achieve carbon neutrality.
Speakers:
・Morinari Watanabe (President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC))

"Shibuya Green Shift Urban Development"
Following on from last year, the summer in Shibuya in 2024 was extremely hot, with the highest temperature ever recorded. Looking at the whole world, the Northern Hemisphere experienced an abnormally hot summer this year, with temperatures 1.25°C higher than the average temperature from 1951 to 1980. If no action is taken, Shibuya in the future will become a city where people cannot stay outside. Under such circumstances, the Shibuya Green Shift Project was launched after a discussion on "how to cool the air in Shibuya in 2050" held at SIW last year. The project concept to cool the entire Tokyo, starting from Shibuya, was announced, and an initiative was introduced that combines Daikin's environmental big data and Ai air conditioning control technology using high-speed communication networks with cutting-edge research from Osaka University. We will discuss how to contribute to Shibuya's urban ecosystem and encourage changes in people's behavior (behavioral transformation) to lead the city to a sustainable and comfortable one.
Speakers:
Satoshi Matsuda (Deputy General Manager of Air Conditioning Sales Division, Daikin Industries, Ltd.)
・Minoru Eto (Professor, Institute for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research, Osaka University)
