The social innovation festival "SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK 2023" was held from November 6th (Monday) to November 12th (Sunday).
The first day of SIW started with seven talk sessions focused on "work styles," and from the 9th, Hikarie Hall will be the main venue, with a hybrid of offline and online events, including talk events, workshops, hands-on events, exhibition booths, and more. Over the week, we created opportunities for networking and exposure to new ideas. Over 150 programs and over 260 speakers participated, and a total of 167,000 people participated, including visitors to all venues including affiliated events and online viewers.
On the final day, a talk session was held at Shibuya Station's Hachiko square with artist Tatsu Nishino, who unveiled the artwork "Hachiko's Room" commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the faithful dog, Hachiko, and developing public art in Japan. Opinions were exchanged about the height and uniqueness of the various barriers that exist when presenting art in public spaces, and how the relationship between the city and art will change as the threshold for presenting art in public spaces becomes lower. I did.
In the closing session, together with Shibuya Mayor Ken Hasebe, SUNDRED CEO Masanobu Tomome, and the moderator, freelance announcer Genta Aoki, we looked back on the past week and discussed the connections between society and people through SIW. We talked about the importance of a place where multiple generations can interact. At Hikarie Hall, in addition to conferences and idea sessions, various future plans for creating a new culture were presented at workshops and 27 exhibition booths.
Archives and reports of conferences and idea sessions are available for free. Please look forward to the new ideas you encounter at SIW and the positive changes in society and people that will lead to a better society.

Shibuya City Environmental Symposium 2023 “Shibuya Youth Climate Change Conference”
Environmental idea pitch from Generation Z to Shibuya
Young people gathered in Shibuya to discuss ways to decarbonize Shibuya. This year's theme is "visualization". Considering that many people's environmental awareness is quite high, but it has not yet been translated into actual activities, we pitched an innovative idea that visualizes Shibuya's environment.

“How to create a sustainable community”
~ Infrastructure that creates a new society and culture from Shibuya through voice and technology ~
What was the idea behind Voicy, a powerful community based on an unprecedented voice platform? There will also be a session where we will think together about how to create a sustainable community and its future, including Mr. Ogata, CEO of Voicy Co., Ltd., and SIW Student Ambassador. It was impressive that the discussion with the students continued even after the presentation was over.

workshop
COSMELOS ART WORKSHOP
It is said that more than 20,000 tons of cosmetics are thrown away each year.
The Cosmelos Association (Representative: Igarishinobu) does not believe that ``throw away cosmetics is a bad thing,'' but rather works to create an environment that takes into account the lifespan of cosmetics, how to use them, and how to discard them, by conducting a movement to replace them with new things and things. I believe that this will be sublimated into the environmental aesthetics of society as a whole. At this art event, together with the participants, we completed works of art using paints made from discarded cosmetics.
