From October 13, 2022, World Sight Day, we will start distributing the “Gourmet Guide without Images” at tourist information centers and Shibuya Ward Offices in Shibuya Ward.

The "Gourmet Guide without Pictures" was implemented in Shibuya based on the idea that won the "NOVUS FUTURE DESIGN AWARD" award, which was kicked off at last year's SOCIAL INNOVATION WEEK SHIBUA.

About "Gourmet guide without pictures"

Visually impaired people enjoy food by using all their senses instead of sight. This is a gourmet guide that takes advantage of the uniqueness of such invisible (hard to see) and summarizes the aroma, texture, and taste hidden behind the appearance in one volume. Since there are no pictures of food on any page, it is a new food media where you can enjoy while imagining the delicious world that expands because you can't see it. Specifically, the five delicious sensations of "taste", "fragrance", "shokan", "funiki" and "hitogara" that visually impaired people felt were described as gourmet comments. As you read, you can check the address, photo, and contact information of the shop you are interested in from the QR code. We aimed not only for the concept to be interesting, but also for something useful as a gourmet guide and reading material. Please enjoy while imagining the delicious sensation created by a famous restaurant.

About Gourmet Reporter

Twelve visually impaired people with rich backgrounds, including a blind singer-songwriter, a gourmet-loving office worker, an elementary school YouTuber, and a Tokyo Para Olympics medalist, covered restaurants as gourmet reporters. Each person's food sensation was expressed in unique words.

NOVUS FUTURE DESIGN AWARD Grand Prize "Gourmet guide without pictures"

The two of us have entered various idea competitions before, but we had doubts about continuing to create projects that never materialized. Because of this, I applied for the "NOVUS FUTURE DESIGN AWARD" award-winning project with great expectations that Shibuya Ward would provide a field for implementing ideas.
When I was thinking about the project, I went to an association where people with visual impairments actually gather, and when I had them look at the project in the middle, I went out to eat with everyone, and there were people who were blind or had difficulty seeing. They were happy with this project, and the words they came up with were unique, and various ideas came to my mind. rice field.
Shibuya has a better understanding of taking on new challenges, and I'm surprised that so many people are supporting this project. I would like to send out various ideas from Shibuya Ward and increase the number of people who think "Shibuya Ward is good" or "Shibuya Ward should be the first place in Japan."
