NOVUS FUTURE DESIGN AWARD award-winning work

Grand Prize: "Gourmand Guide without Pictures"
Mr. Shohei Okawa, Mr. Shun Kitaura

People with visual impairments are often thought of as "weak people who lack ability (visual acuity)." However, in reality, instead of visual function, pay attention to the fact that it has one side as a person with "excellent individuality of other sensory organs". "Gourmand Guide without Pictures" is a food media that visually impaired people can tell us about the scent hidden behind the appearance, the texture, and the taste. There are no pictures of food on any page, and we will deliver a new food experience of imagining food while reading gourmet comments.

SDGs Award: "Chikyu Pencil"
Yutaro Nagata

Now, the colorful nature of the earth is rapidly disappearing. Glaciers are melting, corals are disappearing, forests are being logged, deserts are growing, and exhaust fumes pollute the sky. "Chikyu Colored Pencil" is a colored pencil that tells us the future global environment by reflecting the beautiful colors lost from the earth in the length of the colored pencil based on the data. We aim to convey this serious fact to the children who will bear the future in a way that can be personalized, and to raise the environmental awareness of them and the adults around them.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award: "IF sexuality"
Ayano Usui, Shiori Igagami

IF sexuality is an experience-based measure for university students in Shibuya Ward, starting from the city of diversity "Shibuya", to have them understand the correct sexual knowledge with a gadget. With this measure, we aim to eliminate the taboo view of sex education and the accompanying lack of knowledge and dialogue, to promote a safe environment where correct sexual knowledge can be established, and to promote understanding of diverse sexuality. Through IF sexuality, we will disseminate "Shibuya Ward" as a place where we can understand and talk about diversity.

New Culture Award: "No Fillers"
Yutaro Nagata

When I'm skateboarding, only one shoe quickly becomes tattered.
That's because the basic trick "Ollie" rubs the shoes on the forefoot against the surface of the board. The shoes are "one pair" with the right and left aligned. So even if one is intact, if the other can't be worn, it will go to the trash can. "No Fillers" overturns this situation. By pairing "the other shoe that can still be worn" and adding art, we will upcycle the shoes that should be thrown away to only one pair of shoes in the world.

Public Design Award: "Future Birth Certificate"
Mr. Shohei Okawa, Mr. Shun Kitaura

Gender diversity is hindered by the unconscious prejudice that "gender is determined by nature." The important thing is to instill the idea that "gender is decided by the person himself / herself". Therefore, I focused on the insight that "the timing when a child is born = the moment when the future society in which the child lives is personalized". The "future birth certificate" is a birth certificate that affirms the parent's intention that "the gender is decided by the person himself" in the margin following the two choices of □ male and □ female.

U19 Award: "Climate Clock"
Mr. Kaion Naihad, Mr. Hikaru Endo, Mr. Rina Yamashita, Mr. Isao Sakai (online participation)

Before reaching the "critical point" where the effects of the climate crisis cannot be stopped, the Japanese version of "Climate Clock", which shows the time limit left until the goal of the Paris Agreement can be realized, is installed. , A project that proposes action appeal and system construction to various fields such as government, companies, local governments, schools, and media, mainly by citizens.

over-55 Award: "Proposal of Universal Design for PET Bottles"
Hideaki Saka (online participation)

It is a proposal to make the cap shape of the PET bottle square or polygonal (hexagon or octagon). This makes it possible to open and close with less grip strength, reducing the loss or loss of the cap from the hand in the car or outdoors (leisure, sightseeing, watching games, etc.), and by driving aside. It can be expected to be effective and safe in terms of accident prevention and hygiene (* including unopened status check). It was actually requested by elderly parents and children because it was difficult to open, and it was devised from the experience of driving a hiyari hat in the car and dropping or losing the cap outdoors.

Judge's comment

Keita Makino (DE inc.Co-CEO)
Listening to the presentation was very interesting, educational and inspiring. I think that the feature of this award is that it is close to the image of a meeting even though it is an award, and if you like ideas and tell them to everyone, I think that it is a place where various opinions such as matching suggestions and advice come out. increase. It was all ideas that should be realized without being bound by awards. If the number of ideas you can come up with is 1, there are about 9 steps to realize it, so I would like you to realize it in Shibuya with passion, and I would like to co-create it together.

Winners' comments

Grand Prize, Public Design Award Shohei Okawa, Shun Kitaura
"Thinking, shaping, and making sense only."
These are the words I learned from my respected seniors. Every project doesn't end with just an idea. I think it's finally meaningful when it's shaped, reached by someone, and sometimes moved. In that respect as well, when you win the Grand Prix in this competition with an eye on its realization, you can not only think about it, but also create meaning beyond that! I was very happy. I will continue to do my best to connect the joy of receiving this award to the joy of realizing it. (Kitaura)
Thank you very much for receiving the Grand Prix and the Category Award from among the many projects.
Looking back, I felt that it was necessary to improve the planning from many perspectives, not only for the new ideas, but also for whether people would be really happy or the society would be a little better. For that reason, I think that it was a project that strongly hopes to "realize" that does not end with proposals alone. I will do my best with everyone who can cooperate to realize it. (Okawa)

SDGs Award, New Culture Award Yutaro Nagata
We are pleased to be awarded in two categories, SDGs and New Culture. Both ideas were born out of the idea that I could make my own contribution to a field that I was very interested in. That is why the award is not the end but the beginning. I will do my best from here so that my thoughts and ideas can be firmly permeated into the world.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award Ayano Usui, Shiori Igagami
I am very pleased to receive the DE & I Award this time. It was a good opportunity to think concretely how to realize DE & I, which is a theme that we are always interested in. Although it is still an immature concept, I would like to devote myself to implementation so that I can meet the expectations I received. Thank you for your cooperation.

U19 Award Mr. Kaion Naihad, Mr. Hikaru Endo, Mr. Rina Yamashita, Mr. Isao Sakai
I am very honored to receive the wonderful U19 Award this time.
I would like to thank all the supporters of Crowdfunding for drawing the starting line for the realization of the project. thank you very much. We will continue to use creative ideas to create a future in which climate change actions are commonplace!

over-55 Award Hideaki Saka
Thank you for receiving the award. I hope that ideas and designs will become new normal and help society and life. And it will be updated again in the future. Sincerely!
