ビルや都市空間の3Dデータを利活用した事業価値創出に貢献
The Shibuya 5G Entertainment Project utilizes the 5G environment of KDDI DIGITAL GATE (Note 1) and "AWS Wavelength" (Note 2) carried out by KDDI CORPORATION from April 1st to August 17th, 2021 on smartphones. We cooperated in a demonstration experiment of VR expression technology (hereinafter referred to as this demonstration experiment) that allows you to experience digital twins in buildings and urban spaces.
This demonstration experiment was conducted with the theme of urban space in Shibuya Ward, and in the future, it will create new business value by utilizing high-definition 3D data of buildings such as buildings and facilities and urban space, and various things such as the real estate industry. We aim to utilize it in the field.
Background of this demonstration experiment
KDDI has collaborated with stu Co., Ltd. and Shibuya 5G Entertainment Project with the goal of solving urban issues and activating entertainment with technologies such as 5G, and has a safe and secure live performance in "SUPER DOMMUNE tuned by au 5G". We have been working on improving the streaming environment and AR production of live music using these. In this demonstration experiment, we decided to aim for new business creation by utilizing 5G and "AWS Wavelength".
About this demonstration experiment
1. 1. Overview
By utilizing server-side rendering (Note 4) with 5G and GPU instances (Note 3) on "AWS Wavelength", you can use large amounts of 3D data and high-end graphics that need to be executed on your computer or workstation. We have built a system that can display architectural data such as "commercial facility space", "urban space", and "live concert space" as virtual space on a smartphone.
2. Features
・ By utilizing 5G and "AWS Wavelength", video transmission with lower delay and stress-free
Achieve interaction.
-Since the software running on the server is remotely operated and the rendered video is streamed to the viewing terminal in 5G, you can experience the content without having to download a large amount of data in advance. increase.
・ Unity Technologies (Location: San Francisco, USA, CEO: John Riccitiello) for reproducing 3D data
High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP) provided by
Since the application is executed on the server side, the high-definition rendering pipeline can be used even on mobile terminals.
3. 3. Assumed use case
(1) Simulation environment that users can intuitively grasp
3D architectural data for high-definition buildings and urban spaces is reproduced in virtual space, and the size of the space and the texture of the material are reproduced.
In addition, it is possible to reproduce shadows that reflect the direction of sunlight, so it can be expected to be used when performing simulations in the real estate industry.
(2) Entertainment experience close to the real world
Leverage realistic content such as virtual humans and volumetric videos (3D videos)
It is possible to experience entertainment in a virtual space. Closer to real-world experiences
A wide range of customers can experience the content on their smartphones.
(Note 1) KDDI is a digital development base for the IoT and 5G era that opened in September 2018.

(Note 2) “AWS Wavelength” integrates Amazon Web Services (AWS) computing services and storage services at the edge of 5G networks such as au 5G, resulting in machine learning, the Internet of Things (IoT), and video. It is a service that supports the utilization of edge computing that requires ultra-low latency, such as streaming distribution of games and games.
(Note 3) In Amazon EC2 provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS), high-speed graphics processing can be performed by using an instance equipped with a GPU.
(Note 4) In this release, it means to execute the program on the server and even draw the contents. It is possible to reduce the processing load of the smartphone by performing the processing with a high load for executing the program on the server and streaming and displaying only the content (processing result) drawn on the server on the smartphone.
