SHIBUYA GREEN SHIFT PROJECT

Centered on the collaboration between Future Design Shibuya, Osaka University, and Daikin Industries, Ltd., we will co-create decarbonization actions and social experiments in Shibuya with various partners.
By visualizing and collecting evidence of the environmental impact of air conditioners and sensing devices, we will work to implement measures to combat the heat, such as creating cool spots and green rooftops, and encouraging behavioral changes among the general public, ultimately leading to biodiversity.

Activity content

Cool down the whole city

In cooperation with the Ministry of the Environment and Shibuya Ward, we will set up COOL SPOTs throughout the city to protect residents and visitors from the heatwaves and promote measures to prevent heatstroke.
The project will also collaborate with universities to collect data and verify the effectiveness of research into shady spaces, sprinkling water on buildings, and planting trees to combat the heat, with the aim of reducing heat buildup in the city and creating a safe and comfortable "cool Shibuya."

Promoting energy conservation throughout the city

Using air conditioning data as a core element, we will visualize energy consumption in Shibuya and use the latest technology to promote efficient energy usage throughout the city.
We will also suggest appropriate ways to use air conditioning, and by achieving both energy conservation and comfort, we hope to bring about a change in people's behavior and create new value for the city of Shibuya.

Accelerating the realization of biodiversity

We will collect information on issues related to biodiversity conservation and accelerate urban greening.
By promoting the greening of rooftops and walls and implementing environmentally conscious urban planning, we aim to make Shibuya a city where green sharing can be realized.
We will reflect the voices of Shibuya Ward, businesses, and the local community, paint a vision for a sustainable city with an eye to the future, and work to create a city that is rich in greenery and revitalizes the community.

Transmission of information

We will collaborate with Future Design Shibuya and events held by Shibuya Ward to encourage behavioral change among Shibuya residents.
In cooperation with the national government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, we will disseminate and spread the Shibuya initiative nationwide so that it can serve as a reference for local governments considering initiatives related to the environment, GX, DX, and carbon neutrality as major issues for their cities.
Through this initiative, we aim to create a society where people can experience WELL-BEING.
